How far is David Gareja from Tbilisi?

About 2 hours by car each way. Most tours take 8 to 10 hours in total.

When is the best time to visit David Gareja?

April to June and September to October. July and August often go above 35°C, so start early and bring plenty of water.

How hard is the walk?

Expect rocky paths and some steep parts. Parts of the upper complex near the border are sometimes closed to visitors, so the exact route is confirmed on the day. Good shoes are a must.

Yes, bring it. The monastery is on the Georgia and Azerbaijan border and there may be a check.

It depends on the tour. Many stop in Udabno village for lunch. Check the inclusions on each tour page.
