Question 1

How far is Kazbegi from Tbilisi?

Accepted Answer

About 155 km. Driving takes around 3 hours each way without stops, so most tours last 10 to 11 hours with photo stops at Ananuri, Gudauri and the Friendship Monument.

Question 2

Is the Kazbegi tour possible in winter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, most of the year. After heavy snow the road over the Jvari (Cross) Pass can close for a day or more. If that happens, the operator will reschedule or refund.

Question 3

Is the 4x4 to Gergeti Trinity Church included?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the tour. Check the inclusions on each tour page. If not included, local 4x4 rides are paid on the spot in cash.

Question 4

What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

Layers and a warm jacket even in summer, since Kazbegi is much colder than Tbilisi. Bring a scarf for the church.

Question 5

Can I combine Kazbegi with Gudauri?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Almost every Kazbegi tour stops at the Gudauri viewpoint and the Friendship Monument on the way.

Question 6

Group or private for Kazbegi?

Accepted Answer

Groups are cheapest per person. Private tours let you add hikes like Juta or Truso Valley and set your own photo stops.
